Alabama defeated No. 5 Auburn 3-2 on March 29, securing its first series win over the Tigers since 2023 at Sewell-Thomas Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Bryce Fowler delivered a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Crimson Tide its fifth consecutive Southeastern Conference victory and sixth straight win overall.
The close contest was played before a sold-out crowd of 5,800 fans. Fowler finished the night with two hits in four at-bats and extended his on-base streak to 22 games, while Brennan Holt also contributed two hits and scored the game-winning run. Brady Neal, John Lemm, Will Plattner, and Luke Vaughn each added key performances at bat.
Starting pitcher Zane Adams limited Auburn to one earned run over six and one-third innings, striking out eight batters. Hagan Banks entered in relief during a tied eighth inning and pitched two scoreless frames to earn the win.
Head Coach Rob Vaughn said after the game: “Fun night. Just an incredibly, incredibly well-pitched game. I thought Zane Adams was outstanding. I knew in the first that we were going to get a good start from him… Once he got through that first, he settled in and was pretty dang dominant the rest of the way… Hagan Banks, just outstanding stuff. Bryce (Fowler) made a couple huge plays in center… The thing we talk about with this group all the time is, be unafraid to crash and burn… So, really proud of the effort, really proud of the guys.” Vaughn added that it felt good for Alabama to finish strong against their arch-rival at home.
The Crimson Tide’s winning streak marks its longest SEC stretch since last year. Saturday’s match was also Alabama’s first stadium sellout since April of last season.
Looking ahead, Alabama will seek a sweep over Auburn when they meet again Sunday afternoon.
