Alabama softball defeated the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) 4-1 on March 17 at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The win brings Alabama’s record to 27-1, while ULM falls to 17-15. The Crimson Tide scored three runs in the first inning, with Ambrey Taylor hitting a two-run triple and Ana Roman adding an RBI single. ULM responded with a run in the third inning, but Alexis Pupillo extended Alabama’s lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the third. Pitcher Vic Moten threw four shutout relief innings to secure the victory for Alabama.
Head Coach Patrick Murphy said, “We seemed to be going through the motions today. Offensively we weren’t very sharp, but we were very good defensively. Kaitlyn [Pallozzi] gave us a great start and then Vic [Moten] came in and did a really good job in relief. [Alexis] Pupillo was awesome going 3-for-3 with a triple and home run. Ambrey [Taylor] took advantage of another opportunity with the two-run triple. Moving forward, we need to get back into the ‘dominate’ mindset and take advantage of our time on the field.”
Pupillo had a standout performance, going 3-for-3 at bat and scoring twice, extending her reached-base streak to 24 games. Her home run marked her tenth of the season, tying her for the team lead, while her triple was her fourth career triple. Taylor’s first-inning triple brought in two runs and marked her fourth multi-RBI game this season.
The last time Alabama recorded two triples in one game was nearly a year ago against Samford on March 4, 2025.
Alabama will next play Missouri in Columbia from March 20 to March 22.
