The No. 15 Alabama men’s golf team finished in 11th place at The Hayt, a three-day, 54-hole event that concluded on March 9 with a team total of 8-under par 856 (279-286-291).

The result comes as the Crimson Tide faced strong competition, with eight teams in the field ranked in the top 50 and eight inside the top 25. Head Coach Jay Seawell said, “I think our guys would agree that our performance this week was not up to the standard that we have set for ourselves. I thought we had some opportunities early in the tournament to position ourselves around the leaders, so there were certainly things we can build off there for our next tournament. But overall this was a pretty lackluster performance. I think we all need to look at ourselves in the mirror – myself included – and know we’re better this this. We did not perform well but these are the types of performances that you need sometimes to get you going in the direction. I know we have a very talented team that has some reachable goals this season, so we need to use this to get better and become the team I know we can be.”

Brycen Jones led Alabama’s starting five with a score of 3-under par 213 (68-71-74), finishing in 26th place overall and leading all Crimson Tide starters in par three scoring (2.92, -1) and birdies (12). Connor Brown, competing as an individual, posted a five-under par 211 to tie for 16th overall—his second top-20 finish of the year—and recorded fifteen birdies, tying for second-most among all players.

Nick Gross finished next highest for Alabama at one-under par (215), closing out his rounds with two eagles on hole No. 8—one each during rounds one and three—to tie for first in total eagles among competitors. Jonathan Griz (217) and Jack Mitchell (217) both tied for 49th place, while William Jennings rounded out Alabama’s lineup at three-over par (219).

No. 2 Auburn won the team title at The Hayt with a score of -27, edging out No. 11 Texas Tech by one stroke (-26). Other top finishers included No. 6 LSU and No. 21 Charlotte tied for third (-23), followed by No. 17 North Carolina (-16) and No.1 Virginia (-13).

Looking ahead, Alabama will compete next at the Linger Longer Invitational scheduled for March 20-22 in Eatonton, Georgia.
