The Alabama men’s golf team, ranked No. 11 nationally, finished eighth at the Watersound Invitational in Panama City, Florida. The event concluded on Wednesday, with Alabama posting a team score of 1-under par 837 over three rounds (285-278-274). The Crimson Tide improved their performance each day and recorded the lowest final round score among the 12 participating teams with a 6-under par 274.

William Jennings led Alabama’s effort, tying for 12th place individually with a total score of 3-under par 207. Jennings entered the tournament ranked ninth in the nation and recorded a team-high 13 birdies during the event. Luke Powell delivered Alabama’s best single-round performance on Wednesday, shooting a 4-under par 66 and helping secure the team’s strong finish in the third round.

Head coach Jay Seawell commented on his team’s performance: “I am proud of the way our guys played in the final round. I thought we dealt with some adversity early in the tournament but responded well in tough conditions today. Coming out of the winter offseason, I thought we began the tournament a little flat and sluggish but was pleased with what I saw today. We are going to have to build off the way we finished and try to figure out why we started slow, which was a little surprising. We are going to work on those things between now and our next tournament. But overall, I’m happy the way that we finished.”

Other notable performances included Jack Mitchell tying for 29th at 1-over par 211 after opening with a team-low round of 66. Brycen Jones tied for 38th at 2-over par 212, while Jonathan Griz finished one shot behind at 3-over par 213 to tie for 42nd place.

Luke Powell matched Mitchell’s low round with his own third-round score of 66, climbing up to finish tied for 48th at 5-over par for the tournament.

Three players—Michael Crocker, Connor Brown, and Tristin Wisener—competed as individuals. Crocker tied for 45th at four-over-par; Brown tied for 53rd at six-over; Wisener finished in 76th place.

Arkansas won the team title by one stroke over Vanderbilt. TCU, Florida State, and Ole Miss completed the top five teams.

Alabama will next compete March 7-9 at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra, Florida.
