Alabama men’s golf team tied for fourth after first round at Linger Longer Invitational

The Alabama men’s golf team finished the opening round of the Linger Longer Invitational in a tie for fourth place on March 20, carding a team score of 10-under par 278 at Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

The tournament features 15 teams, with Alabama entering Saturday’s second round tied with Vanderbilt. Georgia leads the field at 21-under par, while Ohio State and Mercer are one stroke ahead of Alabama and Vanderbilt at 11-under par.

William Jennings led Alabama in the first round, shooting a 4-under-par 68 with five birdies and one bogey. Jennings is currently tied for ninth individually, three shots behind the leader. Brycen Jones posted a score of 3-under-par 69 to finish the day tied for 13th overall. Connor Brown and Jack Mitchell both shot rounds of 2-under-par 70, tying them for 22nd place. Jonathan Griz finished with a score of 1-under-par 71, placing him in a tie for 35th. Nick Gross rounded out Alabama’s starting five with a score of three-over-par 75.

The Crimson Tide will look to improve their standing as they head into Saturday’s second round.
