The University of Alabama men’s golf team secured its second consecutive victory at the Folds of Honor Collegiate, finishing six strokes ahead of the competition. The event took place this week, with Alabama recording a 5-under par 847 across three rounds. Among the 15 teams participating, Alabama was the only one to finish below par.

William Jennings led the Crimson Tide by claiming medalist honors with a score of 4-under par 209 (71-67-71). Jack Mitchell finished fourth at 1-under 211 (71-71-69), and Connor Brown tied for seventh with a score of 1-over 214 (73-71-70). Jennings’ win also earned him an exemption to play in the PGA TOUR’s Rocket Classic in Detroit in July-August 2026.

Head coach Jay Seawell commented on the team’s performance: “It really feels great. I’m really proud of the guys. They prepared hard in the couple of weeks leading up to the season opener and we just played really well throughout the week. Today was awesome. I saw our guys play and compete with a lead, battle adversity and hold on to win. We didn’t play well early and then it just kind of clicked and it was really great to see. We will enjoy this one, get back to Tuscaloosa and get focused on next week. But great start to the year.”

Seawell also spoke about Jennings’ achievement: “William is a great story of perseverance. He pushed through some really low times as a golfer. He did not play well for us last February and he just has worked so hard. I couldn’t be more proud of him, all of our coaches and teammates to help him get to this point. He came to us as one of the top recruits in the country and if we are going to be a championship team we certainly need William to help us reach our goals. He made a real pressure putt on No. 18 to win it, we’re going to go have some milkshakes and enjoy it with him.”

Jennings followed last year’s winner Dominic Clemons by winning his first event in a Crimson Tide uniform, excelling particularly on par-three holes where he tied for first in scoring average (-3, 2.75). Mitchell matched his career-low total over three rounds while Brown achieved his second-best career finish.

Jonathan Griz placed tied for 25th overall at six-over-par while Nick Gross finished tied for 53rd.

Alabama led all teams in par-three scoring (-1), par-four scoring (+24), and total birdies (53). Notre Dame finished second at +1; Cincinnati and Kansas tied for third at +11; California rounded out the top five at +12.

The Folds of Honor Collegiate supports Folds of Honor, an organization that provides educational scholarships for families of fallen or disabled U.S military members.

Alabama’s next tournament is scheduled for September 19–21 at Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
