The University of Alabama track and field program will send 20 entries to the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, scheduled for June 11-14 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
The Crimson Tide’s contingent includes nine women competing in nine events and 11 men participating in 11 events. The men’s team will also compete in the 4×400-meter relay.
Among the notable athletes is Doris Lemngole, who holds the collegiate record and is the reigning national champion in the steeplechase. She returns to Hayward Field with teammate Ezekiel Pitireng. Alabama is one of two Southeastern Conference schools with student-athletes competing in both men’s and women’s steeplechase preliminaries.
Katelyn Adel becomes Alabama’s first competitor in the women’s heptathlon at nationals since Kaylon Eppinger earned honorable mention All-America honors in 2012. Adel is also one of two freshmen to medal in the heptathlon at this year’s SEC Championships.
Samuel Ogazi stands out as the only 400-meter runner advancing to this year’s NCAA Championships who was an Olympic finalist at last year’s Paris Olympics, representing Nigeria.
Megan Albamonti will be Alabama’s first women’s javelin participant at nationals since Samantha Zelden competed in 2022. Miracle Ailes is set to become Alabama’s first women’s high jumper at the championships since Stacey Destin achieved First-Team All-America status in 2019.
Mariia Horielova is recognized as the only underclassman medaling in women’s long jump at this year’s SEC Championships, while Precious Nzeakor is one of just two SEC freshmen running in the women’s 200-meter prelims.
This year marks five consecutive years that Alabama has had a competitor in the women’s 10,000 meters at nationals. The men’s team continues its streak with a presence in every national meet’s 4×400-meter relay since 2019.
Alabama remains unique nationally by having two student-athletes each competing in both men’s and women’s shot put: Christopher Crawford, Trevor Gunzell, Treneese Hamilton, and Mye’Joi Williams. The school also leads all programs with three entrants each for both men’s discus (Crawford, Gunzell, Christopher Young) and men’s 10,000 meters (Victor Kiprop, Dennis Kipruto, Dismus Lokira).
The full list of UA women’s entries includes Precious Nzeakor (200m), Doris Lemngole (3,000m steeplechase), Brenda Tuwei (10,000m), Miracle Ailes (high jump), Mariia Horielova (long jump), Treneese Hamilton and Mye’Joi Williams (shot put), Megan Albamonti (javelin), and Katelyn Adel (heptathlon).
