Alabama softball defeated Auburn 1-0 on April 10 to open the weekend series at Jane B. Moore Field.
The game was marked by strong pitching and defense, with both teams remaining scoreless until the fifth inning. The win gives Alabama a boost in conference play and marks their sixteenth shutout of the season.
Jena Young led off the fifth inning with a triple, setting up Kristen White for an RBI single that brought in the game’s only run. Pitcher Jocelyn Briski delivered her second complete-game shutout of the season, striking out eight batters and allowing just one walk. Head Coach Patrick Murphy said, “Jocelyn Briski gave us a really good game with eight strikeouts and only one walk. The defense played really well behind her. Jena Young was basically our offense the whole night with two triples and then Kristen White came through with the single and that was all we needed. Sometimes that’s the way it goes.”
Young’s performance included two triples, marking her second career game achieving this feat since March 29, 2025 against Wisconsin. Alexis Pupillo extended her reached-base streak to thirty-six games after a third-inning single.
The Crimson Tide improved their record to 37-3 overall and 10-3 in Southeastern Conference play, while Auburn fell to 23-17 overall and 2-11 in conference games.
Alabama will continue its series at Auburn on Saturday, April 11 at noon Central Time on SEC Network, followed by another matchup Sunday afternoon.
