Alabama softball secured a second consecutive victory over Florida State on Saturday at the Dugout Club Classic in Tallahassee, winning 5-1. The Crimson Tide had previously defeated the Seminoles 8-0 on Friday night. A scheduled game against Elon was stopped in the third inning due to rain and will not be completed.
Alabama improved its season record to 12-0, while Florida State dropped to 11-4. The Crimson Tide took an early lead with a solo home run from Alexis Pupillo in the first inning. Pupillo added another home run in the fifth, marking her fifth career multi-home run game and her first since joining Alabama.
Mari Hubbard contributed with her first home run of the season in the fourth inning, and Jena Young hit her second homer of the year to start off the sixth. Jocelyn Briski earned her third win of the season, pitching a complete game and striking out a career-high nine batters. She threw 70 strikes out of 84 pitches.
Head Coach Patrick Murphy commented on his team’s performance: “We’ve had four straight great starts by four different pitchers. I’m very proud of Jocelyn [Briski] for pounding the strike zone all day against Florida State. Our hitters continue to make quick adjustments during the game. Credit to Adam Arbour for having our hitters ready.”
Pupillo became the first Alabama player to hit two or more home runs in a single game since Brooke Ellestad and Kali Heivilin did so last year against Iowa on March 7, 2025. Marlie Giles and Jena Young have now reached base safely in eleven consecutive games.
The scoring began with Pupillo’s solo homer in the top of the first inning, followed by Hubbard’s solo shot in the fourth. Pupillo’s second home run—a two-run liner—came in the fifth inning, and Young led off the sixth with another solo blast. Florida State’s only run came from Makenna Sturgis’ two-out homer in the seventh.
Alabama is scheduled to play Dartmouth next at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday as part of continued action at the Dugout Club Classic.
