Alabama softball defeated South Alabama 8-0 in a run-rule shutout on April 7 at Rhoads Stadium.

The win marked Alabama’s fifteenth shutout and twelfth run-rule victory of the season, highlighting the team’s strong performance. The game ended after five innings due to the run rule.

Marlie Giles matched her career high with three hits, including two doubles. Brooke Wells also collected three hits and drove in the final run with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Wells hit a three-run home run in the fourth, her sixteenth of the season, tying her for tenth place on Alabama’s single-season home run list alongside Ashley Prange (2023) and Leona Lafaele (2016). She is now one home run away from a four-way tie for seventh place. Bailey Hemphill holds the program record with twenty-six homers set in 2019.

Kaitlyn Pallozzi improved to a 7-0 record by allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Vic Moten retired all three batters she faced in the fifth inning.

Head Coach Patrick Murphy said, “I was really pleased with Kaitlyn Pallozzi’s start in the circle. Any time we can shut out a Division I opponent, it’s a big feat and an even bigger one to do as freshmen. Two freshmen saw the mound and had great performances. We had production up and down the lineup, which was great coming off such a big series for us.” Other notable performances included Kristen White tallying her second straight two-hit game and Alexis Pupillo extending her reached-base streak to thirty-five games.

Alabama will next play at Auburn from April 10 through April 12.
