Alabama softball continued its perfect season with an 8-1 victory over Samford on March 10 at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
The win brings Alabama’s record to 24-0, leaving the team just one win away from matching its fourth-best start in program history, which was a 25-0 run in 2007. The game featured strong performances both offensively and defensively, underscoring the team’s consistency this season.
Brooke Wells led the Crimson Tide offense with two home runs as part of a three-hit day, collecting three runs batted in and scoring twice. Alexis Pupillo also contributed significantly, going three-for-three at the plate and hitting her ninth home run of the year. Pupillo has now reached base safely in 20 consecutive games. In total, Alabama recorded multiple home runs for the thirteenth time this season, including six of their last seven games.
Pitching duties were shared among Kaitlyn Pallozzi, Vic Moten, and Alea Johnson. Pallozzi started and tied her season high with six strikeouts over three innings. Moten earned her tenth win of the year by facing just ten batters across three innings of relief. Johnson closed out the game efficiently with an eight-pitch seventh inning.
Head Coach Patrick Murphy said, “Our pitching and defense have been great lately and today was no different. We are excited to be 24-0 this far in the season, but we are not complacent. This is a huge series coming up with Arkansas, and our team knows that one of my pet peeves is losing at home. We are going to do everything to protect the Rhoads house and keep working hard. Everyone is still bought in and it’s a great team to be able to coach.”
Looking ahead, Alabama will face Arkansas in a weekend series at Rhoads Stadium starting Friday.
