Alabama softball achieved a series win against Ole Miss after sweeping a Friday doubleheader in Oxford, Mississippi. The Crimson Tide took the first game 5-3 and followed with a 13-2 victory in six innings during the second game.

In the opening contest, Alabama (22-0, 2-0 SEC) twice gained the lead only for Ole Miss (18-7, 0-2 SEC) to tie it up each time. Two bases-loaded walks in the fifth inning put Alabama ahead for good at 5-3. Jocelyn Briski (7-0) pitched a complete game and, along with her defense, retired nine of the last ten batters to secure the win.

The second game saw Alabama score nine unanswered runs across three innings before adding four more in the sixth to end the game by run rule. Kaitlyn Pallozzi (5-0) earned the win in relief.

Brooke Wells had a perfect day at the plate, going 6-for-6 with two walks, three runs scored, and four RBIs over both games. Ana Roman drove in four runs total, including three on a home run in game two. Lauren Johnson hit her second home run of the season as part of a 3-for-5 performance. Ambrey Taylor recorded her third home run of the year and her second as a pinch hitter.

Head Coach Patrick Murphy commented on his team’s performance: “It’s very difficult to win an SEC series on the road, especially with a doubleheader. I thought the pitchers came through. That was Kaitlyn Pallozzi’s best outing of the year in my opinion. We’re going to need that, we’re going to need a true pitching staff and she provided good innings for us today. I thought offensively we did a better job of driving in people from scoring position in the second game. The only blip on the day was I thought we left too many on base in the first game but otherwise it was a really good day.”

With these victories, Alabama improves its record to 22 wins without defeat this season—matching its fifth-best start ever and marking its strongest beginning since starting 33-0 in 2019. The program now holds an all-time record of 70 wins and seven losses against Ole Miss, including winning 33 out of 37 games played at Oxford.

Wells’ strong showing puts her into a three-way tie for most home runs on Alabama’s roster this season alongside Alexis Pupillo and Ana Roman; each has eight homers so far.

Briski threw a season-high 113 pitches while striking out seven batters during her complete-game victory.

Ambrey Taylor’s pinch-hit homer marked her third overall this year; she previously hit one during her first career at-bat earlier this season against Villanova.

The teams will conclude their series Sunday afternoon at Ole Miss.
