The Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten Conference announced on Mar. 30 that Alabama will participate in the first-ever SEC/Big Ten Volleyball Challenge Week, scheduled for early September.

This event marks a new collaboration between two major collegiate athletic conferences, bringing together all 18 Big Ten programs and all 16 SEC institutions for a week of inter-conference volleyball competition.

According to the announcement, Alabama is set to play two matches during the challenge at the Newell-Grissom Building in Starkville, Mississippi. The Crimson Tide will face Northwestern on Thursday, Sept. 3, followed by a match against Iowa on Friday, Sept. 4. The entire event is set to run from Tuesday, Sept. 1 through Sunday, Sept. 6.

The partnership aims to increase competition and visibility for women’s volleyball programs across both conferences as they meet head-to-head in this newly established format.

Looking ahead, fans can expect high-level matchups throughout the week as teams from both conferences showcase their talent during this inaugural challenge.
