Twenty-six student-athletes from the University of Alabama’s track and field program have received All-Academic honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The recognition, announced Monday, includes 14 men and 12 women.
The men’s team honorees are Donald Chiyangwa, RJ Decker, Peter Diebold, Oussama El Bouchayby, Barry Evans, Arthur Graham, Trevor Gunzell, Jackson Harris, Ahmed Ibrahim, Dismus Lokira, John O’Donnell, Ezekiel Pitireng, Jekovan Rhetta and Christopher Young. The women’s team is represented by Katelyn Adel, Miracle Ailes, Megan Albamonti, Treneese Hamilton, Mariia Horielova, Doris Lemngole, Keaton Morrison, Precious Nzeakor, Cleo Oye-Agyepong, Ellie Partrick, Brenda Tuwei and Lilly Walters.
Both the men’s (3.3 GPA) and women’s (3.7 GPA) teams were also named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams for the 2025 season. This award recognizes student-athletes and programs for their achievements in both athletic competitions and academic performance.
According to the USTFCCCA criteria for this award, teams must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for all student-athletes listed on the NCAA Squad List for Indoor or Outdoor Track and Field. Individual student-athletes must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale and must have completed at least two semesters at their institution. Athletic performance requirements include being ranked among the top competitors nationally or participating in rounds of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Among the men’s honorees:
– Seven hold a GPA of 3.50 or higher; Peter Diebold and Oussama El Bouchayby earned perfect 4.0s.
– Several also achieved All-America status at the NCAA Outdoor Championships: “Chiyangwa – first team – 4x400m relay Diebold – first team – 4x400m relay El Bouchayby – first team – 4x400m relay Gunzell – second team – discus, shot put Lokira – second team – 10,000m Pitireng – honorable mention – 3,000m steeplechase Young – second team – discus”.
For the women:
– Nine athletes hold GPAs of at least 3.79; six achieved perfect scores.
– Eight received All-America honors during NCAA competition: “Adel – first team – heptathlon Ailes – second team – high jump Albamonti – second team – javelin Hamilton – honorable mention – shot put Horielova – second team – long jump Lemngole – first team – 3,000m steeplechase Nzeakor – honorable mention – 200m Tuwei – first team – 10,000m”.
“Seven student-athletes hold a 3.50-or-higher GPA, featuring perfect 4.0s from Peter Diebold and Oussama El Bouchayby,” according to information released by Alabama Athletics.
“Nine student-athletes hold a 3.79-or-higher GPA, including six perfect 4.0s,” as stated in the release regarding the women’s program.
The USTFCCCA’s academic awards highlight combined success in academics and athletics for collegiate track and field athletes nationwide.
