Doris Lemngole, a standout athlete for the Alabama Crimson Tide, has been named a finalist for the Class of 2025 Honda Sport Award for Track and Field. The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced her selection on Monday, following her recent defense of the steeplechase title at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships and her third individual national title this season.

Earlier this year, Lemngole was also recognized as the Honda Sport Award winner for Cross Country.

Lemngole’s achievements include setting an NCAA meet record and collegiate record in the steeplechase with a time of 8:58.15, which is also the fastest time recorded worldwide this year. She became the first student-athlete in NCAA history to complete a sub-9:00 women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. In addition to her success in outdoor events—where she remained undefeated—she claimed two SEC Outdoor championships in both the steeplechase and 5,000 meters. During the indoor season, she won the national championship in the 5,000 meters and finished as runner-up in the 3,000 meters.

Lemngole has appeared eight times on the Bowerman Watch List and is noted as the only woman to be featured on every list this season. Her career includes four national championships and seven All-American honors. She was named the 2024 USTFCCCA Lance Harter National Women’s Athlete of the Year and earned all three SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards across cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track.

Other finalists for this year’s Honda Sport Award in track and field are Aaliyah Butler from Georgia, Savannah Sutherland from Michigan, and Hana Moll from Washington. The four athletes were selected by a panel from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The winner will be chosen through votes cast by administrators representing more than 1,000 NCAA member schools.

The CWSA is now in its 49th year recognizing top female athletes who demonstrate excellence not only in their sport but also in leadership, academics, and community service. The recipient of this award becomes eligible for Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year honors and will compete for the prestigious Honda Cup. The presentation will take place during a live broadcast on CBS Sports Network on June 30 at 6 p.m. CT.
