Alabama track and field athlete Doris Lemngole has been named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Women’s Runner of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Tuesday. This is Lemngole’s first SEC weekly honor of the 2026 indoor season and marks the tenth time in her career she has received a conference weekly award.
The recognition comes shortly after Lemngole won the women’s 3,000-meter race at the Millrose Games. She finished ahead of professional runner Hannah Nuttall, who placed second with a time of 8:32.94, and BYU’s Jane Hedengren, who finished in 8:34.98. Lemngole’s performance at this event also led to her being named USTFCCCA Women’s National Athlete of the Week on Monday.
This achievement represents back-to-back weeks in which an Alabama women’s track and field athlete has earned SEC weekly honors. On January 27, Katelyn Adel was named SEC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week.
Lemngole set a new collegiate record in the women’s 3,000-meter race at the Millrose Games with a time of 8:31.39, surpassing the previous record by four seconds (the prior mark was 8:35.20 set by Katelyn Tuohy in 2023). This was also her second consecutive meet setting a University of Alabama school record; she previously set a record in the women’s mile on January 23 with a time of 4:32.69.
