University of Alabama issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.
Jones will provide leadership for Student Care and Wellbeing, Student Conduct, Student Engagement (effective Oct. 1) and Veteran and Military Affairs.
“Dr. Stacy Jones has extensive student advocacy experience, having focused on individual student needs and responding to students in crisis throughout her career,” said Dr. Myron Pope, vice president for Student Life. “In addition to her passion for student wellbeing, she brings a deep commitment to equity and inclusion as well as an understanding of the value of a diverse campus environment. She will serve our students well as an advocate and leader in enhancing their opportunities to holistically develop during this interim period.”
Jones has more than 25 years of experience in higher education and has served as associate dean of students at UA since 2014. She also has experience in the classroom as an adjunct faculty member, teaching classes on the freshman experience, leadership and social justice, and the history of Black Greek organizations at UA.
In addition to her leadership at UA, Jones serves both locally and nationally as a motivational speaker, and in leadership for numerous organizations. She has served as the national vice president and the national programming chair for the National Pan-Hellenic Council as well as the national secretary for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars Board of Directors. She has been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. for more than 33 years, serving in numerous leadership positions.
