Hale County Library issued the following announcement on Oct. 2.
Just a few years back there were both a movie, starring Billy Bob Thornton, and a television series, starring Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton, based on the 1990 bestseller "Friday Night Lights" by Pulitzer Prize winning author H.G. Bissinger.
The story of a small Texas town's obsession with its local high school football team was banned for references to sex and its use of a racial slur. It is #89 on the Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books: 2000-2009. Prisoners in the Texas penitentiary are not allowed to read the book.
