City of Tuscaloosa issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.
Mayor Walt Maddox has named LaShonda Kemp as chief human resources officer, effective Dec. 19, 2020.
Kemp has been with the City for almost four years, serving as senior human resources officer, and most recently, as acting chief human resources officer.
“LaShonda has played a vital role in maintaining our city’s operations throughout this unprecedented year.” Mayor Walt Maddox said. “She has displayed the strength and leadership that is needed to advocate for our amazing team and I am confident that she will continue to make great strides in her new role as chief human resources officer.”
Kemp holds a bachelor’s from The University of Alabama. She has more than 20 years of experience in human resources and personnel management. Before starting with the City of Tuscaloosa in 2017, Kemp worked for DCH Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama.
