TUSCALOOSA PUBLIC LIBRARY: Main library – Closed to be held on January 5, 2021

Closed 1000

Tuscaloosa Public Library recently issued the following announcement.

After careful consideration and as a precaution to help prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), all Tuscaloosa Public Library locations will be temporarily closed  until Tuesday, January 5, 2021. All locations are scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

TPL made this choice to support the overall health and well-being of Tuscaloosa City, County and Northport and for the safety of our patrons and staff. It was a very hard decision, as TPL is dedicated to serving the patrons, but the best way to serve our community now, is to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Tuscaloosa Public Library will be in continued contact with the Library Board of Trustees. We will be evaluating and updating information, if the situation changes. Again, please understand that the director, staff and TPL Board did not take this choice lightly.

We know that TPL is a vital resource for Tuscaloosa, so we are taking steps to support our patrons as much as possible during this temporary closure:

• No fines will be charged during the period that the library is closed.

• Please keep your materials until the library reopens. If you must return materials, return items to the book drop at Main library only. Weaver Bolden and Brown book drops are closed.

• Library cards that expire while TPL is closed will be automatically renewed until February 3, 2021.

• TPL Curbside Service will be suspended during this period as well.

• Online resources, like OverDrive, Libby, Freegal and Kanopy to name a few, are available 24/7 and can be accessed at www.tuscaloosa-library.org any time of day.

• Get a TPL eCard at www.tuscaloosa-library.org/get-a-library-card .

• Please check the library website www.tuscaloosa-library.org for updates.
