Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Hero Alert

HERO ALERT

Congratulations to Sergeant Spencer and Deputy Burleson, recipients of the Life Saving Award and to Deputy McGee, recipient of the Merit Award presented by Sheriff Abernathy.

Sergeant Spencer performed lifesaving procedures on an unresponsive subject while on a medical call. While the situation was critical, Sergeant Spencer never lost focus and her quick actions saved a life.

Deputy Burleson responded to a “suspicious call” and discovered two unresponsive subjects. Deputy Burleson acted swiftly, initiated medical care and assisted paramedics that later arrived on scene. Both subjects became responsive, and Deputy Burleson is credited with saving the lives of two individuals.

Deputy McGee responded to a medical call for a patient in active labor. Deputy McGee made an assessment on the patient and assisted the patient into the ambulance. Deputy McGee assisted in the delivery of the baby just as the ambulance arrived at the hospital. Less than a week later, Deputy McGee intercepted a vehicle enroute to the hospital with a patient in active labor. Deputy McGee, again, assisted in the delivery of a baby, this time while enroute to the hospital.

Sergeant Spencer, Deputy Burleson and Deputy McGee are commended for their heroic actions. We applaud their bravery and courageous efforts as they are recognized for their commitment to our community.
