Weather is a serious subject in Alabama. To help veterans stay safe this severe weather season, the Tuscaloosa County EMA and Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center have teamed up to provide free programmed weather radios to veterans who live in Tuscaloosa County.

Weather radios are very helpful when severe weather strikes. These units provide weather information such as watches and warnings for the counties you have programmed from the National Weather Service. Also, they are battery-operated and can provide information when there is a power outage.
“This community outreach event provides our veterans with the capability to receive the earliest possible warning of approaching severe weather so they may take appropriate action for their own safety and that of their families," stated Tuscaloosa County EMA Director Nick Lolley. "Supporting the health and welfare of those who bravely served our country should be an ongoing top priority.”
Requirements to Receive a Weather Radio
You must present a Veteran ID card and a driver's license listing a Tuscaloosa County address.
First Come. First Served.
Only one weather radio per household.
According to the press release, “individuals wishing to support this event may sponsor a single weather radio for 30 dollars. For more information or to make a donation, call Tuscaloosa County EMA at 205-349-0150.”
