6 businesses registered in cities in Hale County during Q1

There were six businesses that registered in cities within Hale County during the first quarter of 2023, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 54 percent less than the quarter before, when 13 businesses were registered.

Greensboro registered the most businesses in Hale County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
