Tuscaloosa County’s 67 coaches earned an average salary of $816,286 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the second highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Alabama post-secondary schools during 2022.

Tuscaloosa County is home to three post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, The University of Alabama stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $1,056,185.

Male coaches of men's teams received $1,170,457 on average in Tuscaloosa County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $201,914.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
