Born July 15, 1952, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama

John Stallworth was born on July 15, 1952, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He graduated from Tuscaloosa’s Druid High School and played college football at Alabama A&M University. He earned a degree in business and excelled as a wide receiver. The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted him in 1974. He played 14 seasons in the NFL, helping the team win four Super Bowl titles. Stallworth caught 537 passes and scored 63 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl three times. In 2002, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After retiring from football, he became a successful businessman and part owner of the Steelers. His early life in Tuscaloosa helped shape his athletic and academic career.
